Kaida Kogen is a 1,100 to 1,300-meter-high plateau that extends along the base of Mt. Ontake. It is known for the Kisouma horse, Japan's only native breed.

Many sports facilities, hot springs, soba restaurants and farms dot this picturesque plateau, and you'll find incredible views of Mt. Ontake all around.

At Kisouma no Sato, you can interact with the Kisouma horses and even ride them for a small fee. For more information, check the link below.

Access and Parking

Access

By train/bus: take the JR Chuo line train to Kiso-Fukushima Station. Then, take the Kaida Kogen line bus to Kaida Kogen (36 min.).

By car: 60 min./45km from the Ina exit of the Chuo Expressway, or 100min./75km from the Nakatsugawa exit of the Nakatsugawa Expressway.
