Traditional ryokan with soothing onsen baths, warm wood construction, koi pond and gardens throughout. Friendly, helpful staff. Centrally located to the best of Nagano. Fun onsen town with a variety of restaurants and entertainment.

Experience the heart and soul of Japan at our traditional ryokan and make Kamesei your base for exploring Nagano City, the snow monkeys, spiritual Togakushi, Matsumoto and Nagano’s many other attractions. Our traditional Japanese inn features a spacious lobby with a wood burning stove as well as a soothing onsen with new outdoor baths. Feel the warmth of our wood construction while enjoying the inn's gardens and koi pond. Relax in our spacious 10-tatami mat guest rooms while lounging in a light yukata robe. Togura-Kamiyamada is special because it is an onsen town – feel free to wear your yukata and use our wooden geta sandals to walk to the many shops and restaurants. There’s even a theater with geisha drag shows. Our town is proud of its geisha heritage and we can organize geisha entertainment for your evening banquet.
Our proprietor, Tyler, is happy to provide local travel info as well as a touch of American hospitality in his adopted home here in the Japanese countryside.
