Norikura Highland Onsen

Norikura Kogen Onsen's hot spring source is halfway up Norikuradake Mountain. Its milky white mineral water comes up naturally from underground along the Yugawa River upriver from Shirahone Onsen. The onsen water is piped to districts from Suzuran to Bansho, allowing for onsen baths to be enjoyed in a wide area in Norikura. There are other hot spring sources in the area as well, and all together they are called the Norikura Onsen-kyo (district). Not just hotels and ryokans, but pensions as well, overall approximately 100 facilities, offer onsen baths. Norikura features a ski area in the middle, so winter sports are also popular here.
