Karasawa-no-taki Falls唐沢の滝

If you are heading for a hike at Sugadaira Highlands be sure to check out this beautiful waterfall located right off National Highway Route 406 and enjoy some minus ions. The waterfall is 15 meters high and about 10 meters wide. There is a rock shelter (elevation 1240m) nearby that was used from the Jomon Period (14,000 BC to about 300 BC) until the Kofun Period (AD 538) where numerous artifacts such as earthenware, stone implements and unique bone tools have been found.

Access:

Car: 25 minutes (20km) from Ueda Sugadaira IC. Take Route 406 from Ueda towards Sugadaira and it is just before Kougen Irigushi. Located between Sugadaira and Lake Sugadaira.

Bus: 50 minute bus ride from Ueda Station and 5 minutes walk

Take Bus Line #3 headed for “Sugadaira Kogen” from Ueda Station. Get off at “Hanao” or “Besso Iriguchi.” (about 1 hour) (be careful as the road is curvy). 5 minute walk. Bus Fare: 1200 Yen.
