Kaikoen Autumn Leaves Festival
Eastern Nagano Area 懐古園紅葉まつり

Description
Komoro City’s Kaikoen is designated as one of Japan’s Top 100 Castles. Every fall, the castle grounds come ablaze in brilliant colors as the ‘momiji’ (Japanese maples), maple trees and cherry trees change color. The vivid oranges and reds provide a striking contrast to the stacked stones of the castle walls. During the festival there are guided tours, rickshaw rides, a photo contest and lessons on how to use a blade of grass as a flute.
