hi

May i know where you would recommend me to stop over for lunch on the way to Ikenotaira Hotel? It will be on Sunday and I will be collecting my car at 11am.  Is there anything for a family of 2adults and 2 tweens to do around the hotel?

thanks.

Hi there,

As you may already know, the Iketaira Hotel has lots of activities for families around the hotel. They have a ski resort, snow play, sledding activities, an indoor pool, bowling alley, two museums, and more. There should be plenty to do when you arrive.

Regarding a stop for lunch, where will you be driving from?

If you’re driving from Tokyo, then the fastest route to Chino would be through Yamanashi Prefecture (about 2 hours and 40 minutes). The other option would be to drive Saitama and Gunma (4 hours and 7 minutes).

If you take the Yamanashi Route, you will spend most of your drive in that prefecture, so I recommend at checking their tourism resources here. Also, you can find a list of all the roadside stops (“Michi-no-Eki”) at this website.

If you took the other route, I would recommend stopping in Karuizawa for lunch/shopping on the way. They also have a ski resort, ice skating, and other activities to enjoy.

I hope that helps!
