Hi, I am planning to head to nagano from 20-22 March. I have no idea where to go. Can i have a rough idea on how the weather is like usually at this timing, is there anywhere else you can recommend?
Will hakuba even be opened on the date that i am going?
There are many great places around Nagano that you can see year-round. Below are some places that I recommend:
- Matsumoto Castle
- Zenkoji Temple
- The Nakasendo (Tsumago, Magome, Narai)
- Jigokudani Yaen Koen (Snow Monkey Park)
During March, the average high temperature is about 10°C with the low just about 0°C. The weather has been quite warm recently. Snowfall in late March is unlikely in the valley, but there may be a bit more snow in the mountains.
I am not sure what area of Hakuba you plan to visit, but if you’re planning to visit one of Hakuba’s ski resorts, several of them are open during late March (Hakuba Happo-one, Tsugaike Kogen, Hakuba Iwatake). You can see more information about Hakuba’s ski resorts here.
I hope that helps answer your question. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
