Stargazing around Achi Mura

Hi I\\\’ll be going to Achi Mura on 9th August and will be driving a camping car on my trip

I want to know if there is a place to stargaze without going to the Star Village Achi as the gondola requires booking and has very little flexibility. It would be best if we can find a nearby onsen or site with RV parking where there are events that would allow us to gaze at the night sky

I don\\\’t plan on staying at Achi Mura that night and the next day I will be going to Kamikochi, but I am having trouble finding sites for parking that night. If you can also suggest some sites for staying, that would be great!

My thanks in advance.

Hi Terrcorey,

Thanks for your question about visiting Nagano.

Unfortunately, very dark conditions are required to see the night sky clearly, and we cannot recommend any parking areas that will be that dark. The best places to see the night sky are the Star Village and several nearby camping areas. The campgrounds, however, are not open to day-trip visitors in the evening.

You may find this previous forum post about stargazing in Achi useful.

I hope that helps answer your question.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.
