Dear sir,

I am

planning to visit Nagano at the end of December, 28-31, I might wonna try to ski in Shiga Kogen, Hakuba and Myoko, can you raccomend me a ski rental in Nagano city so I can rent it for 3 days or should I rent every day in a different resort?

Could you also raccomend something else to visit?

thanks a lot

Hi Max,

Thanks for your question.

There aren’t any rental shops around Nagano City that are easily accessible, so I recommend renting your skis at the resort instead.

Also, while Hakuba, Myoko, and Shiga Kogen are all great resorts, it may be better to choose one and stay closer to it so that you can spend more time on the slopes. Hakuba has nine resorts around town, as well as plenty of restaurants and night life. Shiga Kogen is Japan’s largest interconnected ski resort area, surrounded by the beautiful nature of the Shiga Kogen
UNESCO Eco Park. Myoko Kogen has 6 resorts and is known for its generous powder.

Another ski resort you may be interested in visiting is Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort. It has great runs and a traditional hot spring town at the base of the mountain. There are 13 free public baths around town (make sure to bring your own soap and towels!).

For more information on major ski areas around Nagano, check out Classic Resorts Japan.

For other places to visit, I recommend the snow monkeys at Jigokudani Yaen Koen, Matsumoto Castle, and Zenkoji Temple.

I hope that helps answer your question.
