Hi Tyler, thank you for the detailed info provided. We will have 15 people (young children and old folks) travelled to Nagano then Jigokudani monkey park. I have checked the express bus website provided. However due to the timing ( as we need to catch the shinkasen to Takayama) we need to take the first bus service to Jigo. Do you think we can reserve the bus ticket to secure 15 seats for us. And is that a return ticket we can buy? Thank you!
Emily-san, Thank you for your inquiry. To answer your question, as far as I know Nagaden Bus does not accept reservations. However, if the bus departing Nagano Station is full, Nagaden sends a 2nd bus (we have had that happen to our guests before). Regarding return ticket, if you buy the 1-day Snow Monkey Pass (http://www.nagaden-net.co.jp/info/ticket/), it will cover both the outbound and return, as well as entrance to Jigo. Finally, depending on the time of year you go, bus service may be limited. Earliest express bus from Nagano Station to Kanbayashi (trail head — use “Snow Monkey Park” stop) in Spring / Summer / Fall is 10:15. Alternatively, Nagaden train provides more frequent service (including earlier departures) from Nagano Station to Yudanaka Station, transfer to local bus to Kanbayashi Onsen and/or Snow Monkey Park stop. (NOTE: Train and local bus are also covered by the Snow Monkey Pass.) Hope that helps!
