Hi, may I know which areas that I should visit in Nagano and what are the recommended places or attractions during my trips with my family (with 2 girls 14 and 9 years). Unfortunately, my eldest daughter cannot ride a bicycle.

Is it a raining season at the first and second week of June?

Thank you and best regards,

Hi Tjek,

The rainy season usually begins in early June and ends in mid-July. It doesn’t rain everyday, but there is a much higher chance of rain or cloudy weather during this period.

Some of Nagano’s most popular sights include the monkeys of Jigokudani Yaen Koen, Matsumoto Castle, Kamikochi, and the Kiso Valley.

If you and your daughters are interested in learning about Japanese food, I recommend trying a soba-making workshop or oyaki-making workshop.

For some light trekking and beautiful mountain views, visit Happo Pond or Hakuba Mountain Harbor in the Hakuba Valley. Ryuoo’s SORAterrace (near Jigokudani Yaen Koen) is also a great place to enjoy mountain scenery and seas of clouds.

You can also enjoy kayaking, canoeing, rafting and more with Evergreen Outdoor Center.

Let me know which of these interest you, and I can give you some more ideas for your trip.
