We are family planning a trip to Hakuba in late June. We want to do some short hikes using the ski lifts. Which lifts are open then and are there shuttle buses running to the lifts? We don\’t plan to hire a car. Will restaurants and shops be open?
Thank you .
I would recommend visiting Happo Pond at the top of Happo One Ski Resort. It’s about a 90-minute hike from the top of the ski lift to the pond, and it has great views of the surrounding mountains. The Alpine line ski lift will be open from June 2 to October 28, 2018 (begins from Gondola Station “Adam”.
To reach the gondola station, take the Hakuba line bus from Nagano to the Happo One Bus Terminal. It’s a 12-minute walk to the ski resort from there.
There are a few restaurants and cafes on the mountain that will be opening over the course of the green season. Karuizawa Primo (In the Usagidaira Terrace) will be open from June 2, and the Pilar cafe (at the top of the next lift) will be open from June 16. Others will open from mid-July. There are also quite a few restaurants in town (some are closed during summer though).
I hope that helps answer your question!
