The First Time Race at the City of the 1998 Winter Olympic Games
Dates: November 7(Sat), 8(Sun), 2009
For the first time in Nagano (Host city of the Winter Olympic Games in 1998),Togakushi
town will host a 45km race that takes runners up and down the hilly hiking trails of Togakushi, Iizuna and Kurohime’s glamorous mountain range.
A 25km middle course is an option for those looking for something less challenging.
For beginners, juniors or team competitors a special 5km course is also available.
With nearly 700m of altitude change (1800m at highest point), you will run surrounded by beautiful forest, passing by unique Shinto Shrines, ranches and lakes.
Most of the race is taking place in the National Park of Shin-etsu.
The race offers you a good chance to discover the great natural environment of Nagano.
Besides running, you can also experience Japanese culture and cuisine during the stay at typical Japanese inns. Before the race day, you can enjoy a friendly outdoor meeting in the center of Togakushi.

Runners who participate in 45km & 25.0km race must take accommodations in Togakushi area designated by Organizing Committee. Lodging charge for participants is set up as the reasonable price in advance.
