Shuttle bus to Hirugami Onsen

October 11th, 2018

Hi ^^

We plan to visit Hirugami Onsen by bus in mid-December. I checked the bus schedule and found there would be no bus from Nagoya to Hirugami Onsen after 4 or 5 p.m. But there would be buses to Komaba after 4 p.m. Is Komaba near Hirugami Onsen? Can any of the hotels in Hirugami Onsen provide a shuttle bus from Komaba to the hotel if I book the hotel in advance? Thanks.

Travelling from Prince hotel west to snow monkeys

September 25th, 2018

Gday from Australia,

I’ll be checking out from Prince Hotel West Shiga Kogen on the 4th March 2019. My group of four is interested in seeing the snow monkeys on our way back to Tokyo. Some of our group has to be back at Narita airport at 6pm and we are going to travel by shinkansen after seeing the monkeys.

I am currently thinking we will have to get a bus to Nagano first and from there travel to see the monkeys. Can you suggest any quicker or simpler methods than Bus both ways. I am guessing that a taxi from Nagano to Jigokudani would be about $200AUD each way?

Do i have to go right in to Nagano or is there a ‘shortcut’ along the way. Any advice you can provide about this side-trip is appreciated

Thanks for your help

Hakuba Happo-one or Tsugaike in Autumn

September 25th, 2018

Hello

My family will be visiting Matsumoto from the 8th to the 11th of October.

We will be travelling by train from Takaoka and travelling onward to Tokyo.

We will spend one day in Kamikochi but are thinking of also seeing the autumn colours at Tsugaike or Hakuba on our way to Matsumoto. We would like to walk for a couple of hours.

Which of Tsugaike or Hakuba would you recommend, and which would be easier when relying on public transport.

Thank you

Bus to Sunvalley

July 12th, 2018

Hi,

I’ll be staying in Shiga Sunvalley from December 23rd. My flight arrives in Narita at around 1pm, so I think I can arrive in Nagano around 7:30pm, using the Shinkansen. (I’ll have the JR East Pass, so the shuttle bus from Narita isn’t really an option)…

From Nagano station, what’s the easiest way to reach Sunvalley hotel? Will there still be a direct bus after 5pm? Or is it better to take the train to Yudanaka and hope for a taxi/local bus from there?

Thanks for any help!

Nagano today?

Shiga Kogen climbing mountain trail run -How do I enter?

June 25th, 2018

Hi Blair
I would like to enter the Shiga Kogen climbing mountain trail run held on the 7 July 2018 … but I cannot become a member of runnet due to not having a Japanese telephone number.

Apparently this run has spectacular scenery … I only want to do the 14.8 km on the July 7, 2018, as the marathon is a little too much for me.

Is there a way that tourists can enter?

Today I ran the Rockin’ Bear run at Mount Kurohime, which was beautiful.  To enter this run I contacted the organisers directly – North Shinano Trail Freaks (KTF) – who organised it so I could enter and pay on the day … & it was well worth it : )

I have written to the Shiga Kogen climbing mountain trail secretariat, but alas, have not been able to get a response.

Could you guide me as to an alternate route to enter this trail run.

Thank you kindly
Michael
