Hello! I will be visiting Japan at the end of April / start of May with my partner. This will be our second time visiting and we would like to see some places that we didn\\\’t visit on our last trip, mainly Nagano! However, it seems like such a vast area, I don\\\’t know where to begin. We have 3 days and would like to see some nature, do some hiking, visit some onsens and drink some sake 😉 would you have any recommendations on where to base ourselves? Would Nagano city be a good base? We will have the JR pass and will likely be coming from Tokyo. Any recommendations are most appreciated. Arigatou gozaimasu, Fraser
I will arrive in Japan on 30 March, is there any buses that go directly to matsumoto or nagano?
We will visit the Japanese alps 12-14 April.Where should we go? Where are the hiking trails open?
Hi all! We will visit Nagano from Feb. 06 until Feb. 12. and planned to visit Kiso Valley. I read that there are Ice Lantern Festivals in various Towns during this period, but I could not find any exact dates (except the one in Narai on Feb. 03 which we will unfortunately miss). Perhaps you can help me with more detailed information for better planing. Thank you very much.
Hi, I\’m staying in Nagano for a day (today..) and just found about the Nozawa Onsen Fire Festival being held today. I really want to go but I\’m worried about getting back Nagano on the same night. I figure if I get a taxi to take me to the TojiriNowakoOnsen station on the JR line before the last train leaves, I should be ok. How easy is it to get a taxi at Nozawa Onsen at around 9 – 9:30 pm? Should I even bother going? Thanks
I am planning for a 2 day trip to Nagano, Please suggest me the best places to visit in December. Please reply to my question as soon as possible

Hi, We will becoming to Japan next October, already booked our flight. 4 night,3 days Tokyo. Then I had booked to go Nikko on the next day Saturday. for Autumn colour , Have since been advised it will be packed and difficult getting to see the sights I had highlighted ( 2 waterfalls and the lake ). My plans were then next day Nagano 1 night. to go the following day on the Famous Alpine Route to finish it at Kanazawa for 2 nights. So please shall I make it 2 nights Nagano ? where can I go for lovely sightseeing/ autumn colour. I will have a 14 day rail pass.Is it any good locally? Do not mind if not.I have to say I am 83 now but quite fit , so walking no problem though not long uphill climbs ( my knees do not like Ha ha ) In the last 7/8 years we have toured New Zealand 5 times from the top to bottom., Fantastic. But Japan has always been a place “To Visit ” So please I have asked a big question, where do you advise us to go before the Alpine route day? How do I get to the places you recommend? ( Make it easy to understand folks Ha ha ) I am a ex UK citizen retired to Thailand. Will appreciated all advice to enjoy Japan ( Really looking forward to the world famous Japan Rail journeys)
Hi! I would like to ask if there will be any difficulty to drive from Tokyo to Hakuba through Nagano city? And after skiing, we would like to drive from Hakuba to Gunma as well for Onsen. May I know if the road and weather condtion allow us to do so? Or raiway is better?
I heard there is a Snow (ふゆ）Expo in Nagano City during the first days of November. Where and when does it take place?Thank you
